When your focus shifts

When your focus shifts away from God, life can start to feel heavy, unstable, even overwhelming—like sinking. Not because God left you, but because you stepped out of alignment with the One holding you steady. Think about Peter walking on the water. As long as his eyes were on Jesus, he did the impossible. The moment he focused on the wind and waves, fear entered, and he began to sink. Still, Jesus immediately reached for him. No delay. No rejection. Just rescue.

A little encouragement: sinking is not the end—it’s a signal. It’s a reminder to refocus, not to feel shame. God doesn’t say, “You failed.” He says, “Look at Me again.” The same hand that saved you before is still extended now.

When you feel overwhelmed, distracted, tired, or pulled by life, gently bring your focus back. Peace returns. Strength returns. Clarity returns. You don’t have to fight the storm alone—just keep your eyes on Him, even if all you can whisper is, “Lord, help me.”

And He will.
